I have changed the a/f sensor and the check engine light came back on and the code is still p1283
I am wondering how to fix the problem?

HI there,

With this code it's important to clear the fuel trims. This can only be done with a very expensive scan tool or by disconnecting the battery for 24hours. Otherwise the computer still sees the old fuel trim numbers and sets off the code.
