I have a 1997 F250 Heavy Duty with 460 7.5L. /4×4.
After Noticing a flashing OD light , the check engine light on, Erratic 1st to 2nd hard shifts , the engine idling at a lower RPM while at a traffic light, then suddenly turning off. In addition, whenever I shift into Reverse, I get a Higher than Average idle and a high and low blogging RPM then suddenly the Engine turns off.
The Truck does run Normal whenever Im on the Freeway also It does down shift without a problem when deactivating the OD button.
Codes P300 & P1507 are coming up when I used my Diagnostic /
Scanner.
Id appreciate it I can get your feedback. THANKS

P1507 Idle air control (IAC) valve assembly

P0300 Random misfire

There is 3 different problems , when the O.D light flashes it detected a transmission problem. P1507 is the IAC valve, underspeed error and it will not cause a P0300. A slightly open EGR at idle can set a P1507 without setting a EGR code and set a P0300. When a Ford codes a P1507 this is either the IAC inlet is plugged or the IAC has leakage, To maintain the target idle that is needed replace the IAC valve, you should also clean its port using either brake cleaner or carburator cleaner, it would be useless to reuse the IAC valve. Clean the IAC port and install a new IAC valve. reset any code that are set. For P0300 clean out any corrosion that may have built up on the ignition cap and ignition coil.
