2000 Dodge Neon lost acceleration & shut off while driving: codes P1684 & 1391

Question

My 2000 Dodge Neon was running fine and then suddenly when I was driving it started losing engine strength and shut itself off. I pull off to the side of the road and turned the key off. When I tried to turn it back on it started up fine and idled with no problem for a minute or two. I decided to go the last couple of blocks home. I was able to accelerate with full strength, but as soon as I let off the gas it shuttered a little bit and shut down again. Radio and other electric were still on, just the engine lost power. Check engine light came on. I did that twice more and made it home. I did the on-off key trick and it displayed codes P1684 and P1391 in that order.

Any thoughts on where to start looking? I'm been planning on trading this car for a new one for a couple months. Was going to wait for my tax return, and would rather not take it to a shop and spend $500 to $1000 or more to fix it when I'm just getting rid of it soon. Initial reading seems to point to a faulty sensor maybe? How can I narrow it down and be reasonably confident that it a couple hundred bucks on a part will solve the problem?

P1684 PCM memeory has been cleared

P1391 Intermittent loss of CMP or CKP

P1684 means the ECM has been cleared within the last 50 ignition cycle, and this is a informative code which does not mean there is a problem, P1391 having a intermittent loss of  CKP (Crank postion sensor) or CMP (camshaft position sensor) If you intermittently loss the CMP the vehicle would rough idle at acceleration but it would not stall the engine. If you intermittently loss the CKP you would just stall out. This code P1391  is when there is a intermittent loss of the 5 volt refference to the CMP and CKP and it always turns out to be a issue with the ECM. You can  replace the CKP and hope it last for a while,
