When the check engine light comes on the cruise is automatically disabled.

The P0483 code is a fan rationality code. This basically means that the cooling fans are running to long or are unable to cool the car to the specified temp. Normally this code appears when the car is over heating. Either due to the fans not working properly or a bad thermostat. Low coolant can also cause the car to overheat.
