When there is a fuel rich condition this is more fuel than air ratio, some of the causes for this are plugged air filter, a leaking internal fuel injector, a mechanical condtion such as low compression , This is not good to dirve it will only get worse and become costly such as damage the catalytic convertor, There has been report of fuel injector as being the cause for rich fuel trim and the resolve was fuel injector cleaning in some cases.
