i just installed a new termastat could this have anything to do with the p0420?

Vehicle: pontiac 2001 grand prix 3.1

Hi there,

This wouldn't be related to P0420. P0420 means the catalytic converter isn't working like it should. This could be the result of an exhaust leak, faulty rear O2 sensor or an issue with the catalytic converter itself.
