Hello,
I took my girlfriends car to get the MD VEIP Emission test on her:
2001 VW PASSAT 2.8L.
Test Result = FAIL
Test codes given to me were:
•P0491/P0492 = Secondary air injection system insufficient flow Bank-1/Bank-2
•P0130 = O2 sensor circuit Bank-1/Sensor-1

CAN someone please help/inform me what I can do to fix this myself? Money is short and all the auto work needed to keep up with an aging car, I've been done myself. I'd greatly appreciate any help, thank you.

P0491 / P0492     Secondary air injection system insufficient flow

P0130 Oxygen sensor circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1

This would be a easy fix, the air injection pump has a hose that has a tendency to either disconnect or crack , On the air injection pump which is located on the top right check the air hose if it is disconnected or cracked chances are this disconnected hose also effected the perfromance of the 02 sensor.whcih would cause the 02 to read lean.Look for the hose connected at the air injection pump which one of the should go to the MAF or airfilter housing and restore the connection.
