its not safe for very long, if the the car is not reading the correct temperature sensor and the thermostat is bad it can lead to the car over heating and causing head gasket problem. So get it checked out as soon as possible

- Low engine coolant level
- Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor harness is open or shorted
- Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor electrical circuit poor connection
- Faulty Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor
- Faulty engine coolant thermostat
