I have a 2005 accord with 95,000 miles that presents code P0139. I have replaced the rear O2 sensor with a new Honda sensor twice thinking that the first one was defective. The code now comes and goes about every 300 miles or so. I have detected no bad wiring. I took it to a shop that did diagnosis on it and they told me to take to Honda and have the ECM reflashed. Does this sound plausible?

P0139 Heated 02 sensor slow response

Yes this is true. Honda has produced a TSB about this condition TSB# 14-001 titled MIL on with DTC P0139 stored in memory , what this is about is the PCM misinterpeting the secondary 02 sensor which require a update for the PGM-FI software. You also have 2 major Recalls that should also be take care of, Recall # 11-050  ECM / TCM update to prevent A/T damage. and Recall # NHTSA11V395000 A /T control moduel software update. This recall is for automatic transmission.
