I have a 2006 Scion tC and my check engine indicator came on. When I ran an OBD-II test on it, I got a P0420. Up until recently,I had no problems with the car. However, at around 4000+ rpm the car began surging. I was wonder what specifically could be cause in this problem.

Vehicle: 2006 Scion tC 2.4L

HI there,

With the P0420 code, catalyst below efficiency it's very possible the converter is broken up inside and causing some blockage. This could cause the problem. Also, the rear O2 sensor causing the code.
