My kia has lost the movement of the needle in my RPM gauge at first it worked some then wildly then it stopped altogether was told to look into re[lacing the ignition failure sensor and it would fix the problem but I need to ask if the Throttle position sensor and the ignitionfailure sensor are one in the same or two different items altogether

Vehicle: 2006 Kia-optima 4.3 4cyl

Hi there,

The IFS and TPS are 2 completely different sensors. Based on your symptoms it sounds like the fail sensor is causing the issue. You will lose the tach when this is failing, this could also cause the P0300 multiple cylinder misfire code.
