2000 Dodge Dakota 3.7 engine code p1391 CMP senor replacement procedure.

Question

engine light comes on and trouble code indicates p1391. suggests it is either loose or problematic. CMP has been changed in last 5 years but now throws the engine light. Please advise how to change this camshaft sensor myself.

P1391 Intermittent Loss of CMP or CKP

This code condition can be either with the CKP (crank position sensor) or the CMP . For the CMP it is part of the distributor you do not need to remove the distributor take the distributor cap off and remove the distributor rotor there you will see to screw head remove that, this is the CMP install. and reassemble .
