P0451 KIA - sportage- LX year 2007

i received a diagnostic check and got code P0451
Faulty Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Pressure Sensor
- Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Pressure sensor harness is open or shorted
- Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Pressure sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

I changed the gas cap the check engine light went off but then came back on. Is it a sensor? what else can i do?

What does this reaslly mean. The idea for the gas cap was from the mechanic. please help figure out what this means?

Hi there,

On most of the Kia when you have this code it means the purge control solenoid is sticking open. When this happens the pressure sensor doesn't see any change in the pressure. This in turn causes the code for the pressure sensor. The best method here is to check the system for leaks with a smoke test. If none are found and if the purge control is working properly, then replace the pressure sensor.
