What is usually at fault when my 2008 Chrysler Aspen code reads P1404?

P1404 This is the EGR valve, which is the EGR position sensor rationality. The EGR is located on the front near the alternator. Replacing the EGR valve may not be the fix for this, Do a top engine clean or what is called a decarbonize.
