2003 Nissan Altima SLE 3.5L giving code P1456 Diagnostic help needed?

I have code P1456, have already replaced Gas fill Cap. Can you help me with diagnosis of this problem? Where to look first? A local garage told me it was probably the canister. Given the high cost of this part I feel that ruling out the other possibilities first would be prudent.

did you replace it with a Factory Nissan gas cap? if not I suggest you buy a OEM one aftermarket don't work good.

after using a Nissan gas cap, you can check around the evap capister to see if there are any broken or cracked hoses.
