Code PO171 engine light on cruise light flashing .No vaccum leaks MAF sensor when you pull off the wires it cut off the engine. How do you tell if it is bad

P0171 Fuel trim lean Bank 1

Lean bank condition is where the air to fuel ratio is tilted, check the sparkplug condition especiall if there is oil soak sparkplug boot in the sparkplug well. It is not a good practice to disconnect the MAF connector while the engine is running. That method only works for older G.M vehicles with a MAF code.

Try to clean the MAF sensor first with mass air flow sensor cleaner.

I would post the diagnostic procedures but i'm not sure if your car has turbo or not, the diagnostic procedures are different and the specs are different.
