I have had my 1999 Ford F150 in the shop several times with this code. I have replaced the Fuel filler cap twice, minor vacum lines, the PCV, and the EVAP canister and system hose. I also get the code P0401.

P0401 Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) flow insuffiecnt detected

P0442 EVaporative emission control system leak detected (small)

For the EGR codes this can be from a plugged EGR passage, The EVAP usually at the filler neck where it attaches to the fuel tank it tends to seperate there, the best way to find the EVAP leak is with a EVAP smoke machine
