P1270 FORD - What will trigger this code?

Question

1997 Ford Thunderbird LX 4.6L V8 with 68,ooo miles.The check engine light came on with the p1270 after the transmission was serviced.  What will trigger this code? Is it just what it states or can something else cause the computer to throw this code? The reason I ask, is this is how I picked my car up from the dealer. Could someone have hot rodded my car while it was supposed to have been serviced?

This code can be the result of wheel slippage so it's possible there was some issue going on. The transmission service would not cause this code to appear.
