Volkswagen OBD 2 will not connect with my car, just reads error? what could this be?

Car is acting wierd, sometimes the traction control comes on and the ecu light, and when this happens i loose all boost. I took it to my schools garage, and they said that the scanner reads error when they try and connect it. Why won't it connect

a short somewhere, could be a sensor also, alternator also, battery too. check all fuses and connections, check for any wires rubbing on metal

Check the fuses, if the fuses are OK, you may have to try with another scanner. Without the code is not easy to diagnose the problem.
