Hello

I have a 2004 toyota avalon. The 1349 code and engine light have come on. The car doesn't have a lot of power now and shakes. Brought it to mechanic and he said its engine sludge and put sea foam in it. Said it probably needs new engine. It has 130,00 miles. Any ideas on what to do?

P1349 Variable valve timing solenoid

Yes engine sludge does cause this.So does a failed Variable valve timing actuator.sea foam or even transmission fluid will not fix it Replace the actuator.
