I have a 2005 Kia Optima LX with a 2.4 engine.
The timing belt and the camshaft balance belt including all tensioners and idlers was recently changed. This included a new camshaft position sensor.
The car has been running fine until today when it lost power and quit. The check engine light came on and it had a P0343 code. I replaced the camshaft position sensor, but when trying to start it, it comes up against compression like the timing is off.

Its possible the timing is off, if you replace the Camshaft Position Sensor

the only other problem might be with the wiring

here is the harness testing procedures

other possible causes:

- Faulty starter motor
- Starting system circuit
- Dead (Weak) battery
