My 2000 Dodge caravan will shift from 1st gear, to second, back to first, and then shift perfectly fine, until you need to downshift, it will bang really hard back down to first gear, and will no longer shift out of 1st gear no matter how high the rpm's go. I just need to know whats wrong with it, I get a code reading of dtcfrzfp0731 and another code reading p0700 #40. I don't know what they mean but im sure someone does
P0731 Gear ratio error in 1st
P0700 Tansmission malfunction detected,MIL light request
P0740 Torque convertor clutch control circuit
What usually cause this is the valve body, and the next possible cause is the solenoid pack,When the transmission can not get out of first no matter how high the RPM this tends to be a problem with the valve body, If there is no whinning noise comming from the transmission a succesful repair can be with the solenoid pack, was there any speed sensor code? A P0720 and or P0715?
