Had code 1150 and 0125..replaced the o2 sensor corresponding to code 1150..check engine light returned in 20 minutes with same 2 codes..could a faulty ECT (reading a false low temp) cause the O2 sensor to never work because the motor never goes into closed loop?

It's very unlikely that the faulty ECT will cause the O2 sensor code (P1150), but it's very likely that is causing the P0125 code. I suggest starting by replacing the ECT sensor. Where did you booth the sensor, it's not rare to have a faulty new sensor. Dropping or mishandling the sensor could easily damage the sensor.
