2003 Ford Escape 3.0L V6 with engine code P0403

Question

I replaced the egr valve and egr solenoid on my 03 escape.It was showing code P0403.After replacing those parts and clearing the code,the engine light goes off.When i shut vehicle off and turn it back on,the engine light comes back on with same code again.I was told to disconnect battery for ten to fifteen minutes and that would reset computer.After i hooked battery back up,the engine light was not on.When i started vehicle,the engine light is back on with the same code as before.For the record i also replaced all vaccum lines in the entire engine bay area.Not sure what to do now.
