I've twice got a p0440 code on my 1997 Toyota Rav4. The first time two months ago it was raining, the second time last week it had just finished raining with high humidity. Does the fact it happens only in damp weather give any clues as to where the problem is?

Vehicle: Toyota Rav4 1997 4 wheel drive.

You should start by checking the EVAP canister, you may have an small crack on the canister and water is entering into the canister. Also check the connectors to the valve and sensor connect to the EVAP canister.
