P0441 Code after rear end collision - related or coincidence?

Question

My Check Engine light came on the morning after I was rear ended, causing extensive damage, not only to body, but shoving the LH Exhaust System (Muffler, tail pipe, etc.) forward, about 5 inches, toward Catalytic Converter, and possibly further upstream (hasn't been on a hoist yet). Could there be any connection between the accident and this light coming on, or is it just a coincidence? If connected, I'd like for Insurance to cover the repair / replacement. There's a 140K miles on the vehicle. Thanks for your response.

This is part of the accident if the light was not on before the accident and is on after the accident, it is part of the accident,legally it is covered,
