Replaced 4 coils in about one year

Longer braking distance when acting up or just after repair

I was told that some functions are disabled when these codes are stored, e.g. ABS and air bag, variable speed control?  I was told that the malfunction has to occur X number of times before it will alert with dashboard display and that disconnect battery resets the count of malfunctions to zero.  Is this correct?  Can anyone explain this better or tell me where I can find this information?  Also wanted to know the cyllinder firing order for the 2006 V6 Rav4.  Thanks

You may have your check the wiring and ECU. Also if the ground is not good it can burn the coil.

You can also add a grounding kit, which I have seen help other some cars. you can wire the negative terminals to the body, then from the same body point to the engine. Then from the same engine point to the other side of the body. See picture below of a ruff estimate of where the grounds should go.

Toyota Rav4 burning coils a gounding kit might help

Possible causes:
- Faulty Ignition Coil
- Ignition Coil harness is open or shorted
- Ignition Coil circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)
