Worst case scenerio may be overheating, The Grand Marquise has a Cylinderhead temperature sensor, If your engine exceed 250 degrees F,  The powertrain disables 4 fuel injectors at a time.and it alternates every 32 engine cycle. If you exceed over 300 degrees F. All the fuel injector are disabled. The temperature gauge doesnt have to show hot at all.On the other hand maybe you are not overheating, at least check the charging system,  a working charging system output is 2 volts above battery voltage, so at idle you should have 14 volts,Also when the engine is cool to touch check the radiator, make sure its full, water or coolant
