P0326 knock sensor Chevy Malibu - are there causes other than the need to replace?

My check engine light came on and the code is P0326 knock sensor. Before jumping in to change the sensor, what should I check or do to see if it's a problem other than a faulty sensor? The vehicle is a 2010 Chevy Malibu LS.

Check the cooling system ,a overheating system will cause a knock sensor to max out and turn the  Check engine light on, next is oil level,check the oil level,and use the proper weight.
