P0452 Pontiac Grand Am GT 1998
The only real symptom is smells like gas real bad sometimes, and the check engine light. Where to start?? Put in a new AC Delco fuel pump a few years ago, and was fine until last year during summer. Started smelling gas real bad, every few cycles the engine light will turn off, so maybe I have a bad purge valve or charcoal canister?? Any help would be great.

Thanks, JB

This code is for a problem with the fuel tank pressure sensor. What it is really indicating is a leak in the evap system. This is why you get the fuel smell time to time. You need to have a smoke test done to determine where the leak is coming from. This is really the place to start. Since there are several parts on the evap system there is no way to know which is the problem without this test.
