P0403-replaced EGR valve.Checked EGR relay-ok. Eng. running and idling smooth. Can't clear code

2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport P0403 code won't clear after replacing EGR valve and checking solenoid-ok. Code comes back even tho engine runs and idles smoothly.

Hi there,

The most common cause of this is the egr tube itself. On a higher mileage engine the tube tends to plug up with carbon. Usually you can remove it and clean it out with a coat hanger and some carb cleaner.
