2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L with code P0987. How do I fix the code?

P0987 transmission fluid pressure sensor/ switch E circuit

Cicuit description

after a shift into a forward gear and with engine speed greater than 1000 RPM the TCM momentarily turns on element pressure to clutch circuit that dont have pressuer to confirm the correct closes
If pressure switch does not close 2 times, DTC P0987 will set


Possible Causes

open in transmission control relay output circuit
intermittent wiring and connector problems
internal transmission problem ( 4th clutch pressure need to test with pressure gage
other line line pressure- related DTCs present
other speed rstio and/or pressure switch present
excessive debris in oil pan
4th clutch pressure switch sense circuit shorted to voltage, short to ground or open
faulty line pressure sensor
poor line pressure sensor connection
5- volt supply circuit open or shorted to ground
faulty TCM
incorrect fluid level
