Code P2763 Buick Description

The Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) pressure control solenoid is part of the control solenoid valve assembly which has no serviceable parts. The normally low TCC pressure control solenoid regulates oil pressure to the TCC regulator valve and TCC control valve. Increasing TCC pressure control solenoid oil pressure increases oil pressure to the torque converter to apply the clutch. The Transmission Control Module (TCM) varies the current to the TCC pressure control solenoid through a low-side driver. Increasing current to the TCC pressure control solenoid increases oil pressure by closing OFF the solenoid exhaust port. Decreasing current to the TCC pressure control solenoid decreases oil pressure by opening up the solenoid exhaust port. The TCC pressure control solenoid power is supplied by the Transmission Control Module through a high-side driver. The high-side driver protects the circuit and components from excessive current flow. If excessive current flow is detected, the high side driver will turn OFF. When the fault is corrected, the high-side driver will reset.
The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the Transmission Control Module detects a short to voltage on the TCC pressure control solenoid valve control circuit for 1 s.

Frequently Asked Questions about P2763 Buick Code

1. What does the OBDII code P2763 mean on a Buick?

The P2763 code indicates a high voltage issue in the torque converter clutch pressure control solenoid valve control circuit, affecting how the torque converter clutch operates.

2. What are the common symptoms of P2763 on a Buick?

Symptoms may include poor fuel efficiency, transmission slipping, harsh shifting, illuminated check engine light, and potential stalling at low speeds.

3. What causes the P2763 code to appear on a Buick?

Common causes include a faulty torque converter clutch solenoid, damaged wiring or connectors in the circuit, transmission fluid contamination, or a malfunctioning transmission control module (TCM).

4. Can I drive my Buick with the P2763 code active?

Driving with this code is not recommended as it can lead to transmission damage or reduced drivability over time.

5. How do I diagnose the P2763 code on my Buick?

Diagnosis typically involves scanning for additional codes, inspecting the solenoid and its wiring, testing the circuit's voltage, and checking the condition of the transmission fluid.

6. How is the P2763 code fixed on a Buick?

Repairs may include replacing the torque converter clutch solenoid, repairing or replacing damaged wiring, cleaning or replacing transmission fluid, or reprogramming the TCM if necessary.

7. Can low transmission fluid cause the P2763 code on a Buick?

Yes, low or contaminated transmission fluid can affect solenoid operation and trigger the P2763 code.

8. How much does it cost to fix the P2763 code on a Buick?

Repair costs vary but typically range from $200 to $800 depending on the issue, with solenoid replacement being one of the most common expenses.

9. Can a bad torque converter cause the P2763 code on a Buick?

While rare, a faulty torque converter can contribute to this code if it impacts clutch engagement or solenoid function.

10. Will clearing the P2763 code fix the problem on my Buick?

Clearing the code resets the check engine light but does not address the underlying issue, so the code is likely to return without proper repairs.
