Code P2719 2016 GMC Sierra Description

The pressure control solenoid 4 is part of the control solenoid valve assembly which has no serviceable parts. The normally low-pressure control solenoid 4 regulates and directs oil pressure to the 2-6 clutch regulator valve. Increasing pressure control solenoid 4 pressure increases pressure to the 2-6 clutch regulator valve. The Transmission Control Module (TCM) varies the current to the pressure control solenoid 4 through a low-side driver. Increasing the current to pressure control solenoid 4 increases oil pressure by closing OFF the solenoid exhaust port. Decreasing the current to pressure control solenoid 4 decreases oil pressure by opening the exhaust port. Pressure control solenoid 4 power is supplied by the Transmission Control Module through a high side driver. The high-side driver protects the circuit and components from excessive current flow. If excessive current flow is detected, the high side driver will turn OFF. When the fault is corrected the high-side driver will reset.
The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the Transmission Control Module detects an internal electrical malfunction on the pressure control solenoid 4 control circuit where the measured pressure control solenoid 4 current does not equal the commanded pressure control solenoid 4 current for 5 s.

Frequently Asked Questions about P2719 2016 GMC Sierra Code

1. What does the OBDII code P2719 mean on a 2016 GMC Sierra?

P2719 indicates an issue with the Pressure Control Solenoid 4 System Performance, which affects the transmission's ability to regulate fluid pressure effectively.

2. What are the common symptoms of a P2719 code in a 2016 GMC Sierra?

Symptoms may include harsh or delayed shifting, transmission slipping, reduced fuel efficiency, and the Check Engine Light turning on.

3. What causes the P2719 code to appear on a 2016 GMC Sierra?

Common causes include a faulty pressure control solenoid, low or dirty transmission fluid, wiring issues, or internal transmission problems.

4. Can low transmission fluid cause the P2719 code?

Yes, low or contaminated transmission fluid can cause improper solenoid operation, triggering the P2719 code.

5. How do you diagnose a P2719 code on a 2016 GMC Sierra?

Diagnosis involves scanning for codes, checking transmission fluid levels and condition, inspecting wiring and connectors, and testing the pressure control solenoid.

6. Can I drive my 2016 GMC Sierra with a P2719 code?

It is not recommended to drive the vehicle for extended periods, as this code can lead to further transmission damage if left unaddressed.

7. How is a P2719 code typically fixed on a 2016 GMC Sierra?

Repairs may include replacing the pressure control solenoid, flushing or refilling the transmission fluid, repairing damaged wiring, or addressing internal transmission issues.

8. How much does it cost to fix a P2719 code on a 2016 GMC Sierra?

Costs vary depending on the cause, but replacing a solenoid typically ranges from $200 to $500, while more extensive transmission repairs may be higher.

9. Can a software update resolve the P2719 code on a 2016 GMC Sierra?

In some cases, a transmission control module (TCM) software update may address the issue, but this depends on the specific circumstances and diagnostics.
