Code P2719 2015 GMC Sierra Description

The pressure control solenoid 4 is part of the control solenoid valve assembly which has no serviceable parts. The normally low-pressure control solenoid 4 regulates and directs oil pressure to the 2-6 clutch regulator valve. Increasing pressure control solenoid 4 pressure increases pressure to the 2-6 clutch regulator valve. The Transmission Control Module (TCM) varies the current to the pressure control solenoid 4 through a low-side driver. Increasing the current to pressure control solenoid 4 increases oil pressure by closing OFF the solenoid exhaust port. Decreasing the current to pressure control solenoid 4 decreases oil pressure by opening the exhaust port. Pressure control solenoid 4 power is supplied by the Transmission Control Module through a high side driver. The high-side driver protects the circuit and components from excessive current flow. If excessive current flow is detected, the high side driver will turn OFF. When the fault is corrected the high-side driver will reset.
The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the Transmission Control Module detects an internal electrical malfunction on the pressure control solenoid 4 control circuit where the measured pressure control solenoid 4 current does not equal the commanded pressure control solenoid 4 current for 5 s.

Frequently Asked Questions about P2719 2015 GMC Sierra Code

1. What does the OBDII code P2719 mean on a 2015 GMC Sierra?

P2719 indicates an issue with the performance of Pressure Control Solenoid 4 in the transmission, which helps regulate hydraulic pressure for proper gear shifting.

2. What are common symptoms of a P2719 code in a 2015 GMC Sierra?

Symptoms may include harsh or delayed shifting, transmission slipping, poor fuel economy, and the check engine light being illuminated.

3. What causes the P2719 code in a 2015 GMC Sierra?

Possible causes include a faulty pressure control solenoid, dirty or low transmission fluid, wiring or connector issues, or internal transmission problems.

4. Can I drive my 2015 GMC Sierra with a P2719 code?

It’s not recommended to drive for extended periods with this code, as transmission performance may degrade further, potentially causing more damage.

5. How do I diagnose the P2719 code on my GMC Sierra?

Diagnosis involves checking the transmission fluid level and condition, inspecting wiring and connectors for damage, and testing the pressure control solenoid for proper operation.

6. How do I fix a P2719 code on a 2015 GMC Sierra?

Repairs may include replacing the faulty solenoid, cleaning or replacing transmission fluid, repairing damaged wiring, or addressing internal transmission issues if necessary.

7. How much does it cost to fix a P2719 code on a GMC Sierra?

Costs vary depending on the repair. Replacing a solenoid can cost $200–$400, while more extensive transmission repairs can be significantly higher.

8. Will a transmission fluid flush fix the P2719 code?

A fluid flush might resolve the issue if the problem is caused by contaminated or degraded fluid, but it won’t fix a faulty solenoid or electrical issues.

9. How can I prevent the P2719 code from appearing on my 2015 GMC Sierra?

Regularly maintain your transmission by checking fluid levels, replacing fluid at recommended intervals, and addressing issues promptly to avoid long-term damage.

10. Does P2719 require reprogramming or software updates for repair?
