Code P2195 Ford Description

The front heated oxygen sensor (or O2 sensor 1) is placed into the exhaust manifold. It detects the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas compared to the outside air. The heated oxygen sensor 1 has a closed-end tube made of ceramic zirconia. The zirconia generates voltage from approximately 1V in richer conditions to 0V in leaner conditions. A heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) indicating lean at the end of a test is trying to correct for an over-rich condition. The test fails when the fuel control system no longer detects switching for a calibrated amount of time.

  • That is not the way to check the O2 sensor. The best way to check the O2 sensor is with an oscilloscope. Also, O2 sensor usually wont cause the engine to run rough. Either something got disconnected during the timing belt installation (e.g. vacuum hose, wire disconnected) or the timing belt was not properly installed.

  • 2004 Ford Focus Zetec engine. Recently after running for a while the engine starts to stall when idle when stopped I have to give it more gas to keep running. The check engine light has been on for at least a year only started having this problem this past week(Aug 18th 2019). the OBD codes are P0446 and P2195 p).
