Code P2146 KIA Description

The Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) system injects high-pressure fuel directly into the combustion chamber. The high-pressure injectors have an internal swirl disk that rotates with fuel flow to help atomize the discharging fuel. This causes the fuel to evaporate rapidly, which reduces inlet air temperature. This cooler atomized air/fuel inlet charge increases power output.
The GDI injector drive has 2 circuits for the high side. One handles cylinders 1 and 4 and another handles cylinders 2 & 3 so that these paired cylinders always occur the same Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).
The Engine Control Module (ECM) shows P2146 when the 1, 4 high, or low side is short circuit ground or short circuit battery.
