Code P2134 Dodge Description

The Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor is an input to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and used to determine the amount of torque requested by the operator. There are 2 pedal position signals in the sensor. Both signals, APP and APP2, have a positive slope (increasing angle, increasing voltage), but are offset and increase at different rates. The 2 pedal position signals make sure the PCM receives a correct input even if 1 signal has a concern. The PCM determines if a signal is incorrect by calculating where it should be, inferred from the other signals. If a concern is present with one of the circuits the other input is used. There are 2 reference voltage circuits, 2 signal return circuits, and 2 signal circuits (a total of 6 circuits and pins) between the PCM and the APP sensor assembly. The pedal position signal is converted to pedal travel degrees (rotary angle) by the PCM. The software converts these degrees to counts, which is the input to the torque based strategy.

Frequently Asked Questions about P2134 Dodge Code

1. What does Dodge OBDII code P2134 mean?

P2134 indicates an intermittent issue with the Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch 'F' circuit, which can affect throttle control.

2. What are the symptoms of code P2134 in a Dodge vehicle?

Symptoms may include reduced engine performance, erratic throttle response, activation of "limp mode," and the check engine light turning on.

3. What causes the P2134 code in Dodge vehicles?

Common causes include faulty throttle or pedal position sensors, damaged wiring or connectors, and issues with the throttle body or PCM.

4. Can I drive with code P2134 active in my Dodge?

Driving with P2134 is not recommended as it may lead to reduced engine power or unpredictable throttle behavior, posing safety risks.

5. How do you diagnose P2134 in a Dodge vehicle?

Diagnosis involves scanning for codes, inspecting the throttle and pedal position sensors, checking wiring and connectors, and testing sensor voltages.

6. How do I fix the P2134 code on my Dodge?

Repairs may include replacing the faulty sensor, fixing damaged wiring, cleaning or replacing the throttle body, or updating the PCM software.

7. Is P2134 a common issue in Dodge vehicles?

While not extremely common, P2134 can occur in Dodge models with electronic throttle control systems.

8. How much does it cost to repair the P2134 code in a Dodge?

Costs vary but typically range from $150 to $400, depending on whether sensors, wiring, or throttle body components need replacement.

9. Can a dirty throttle body cause P2134 in a Dodge?

Yes, buildup in the throttle body can affect sensor readings and cause intermittent issues triggering the P2134 code.

10. Does the P2134 code require PCM replacement in Dodge vehicles?

PCM replacement is rare for this code but may be necessary if the PCM fails to process the sensor signals correctly after all other fixes.
