Code P1E2B Saturn Description
Each motor control module operates its respective drive motor based upon hybrid powertrain control module commands. Each motor control module controls its respective motor through the sequencing actuation of high-current switching transistors called insulated gate bipolar transistors. Each motor operates utilising 3-phase alternating current AC electricity. Each insulated gate bipolar transistor operates a single phase of the drive motor generator. Each phase is individually identified as U, V and W. Each motor control module monitors the current of each phase in order to detect out of range current conditions.
Because each individual motor's phase circuits are electrically joined together, the phases normally flow about the same amount of current. The motor control module performs a mathematical calculation to verify that the phase current sensors are accurate. If the U-V-W phase current sensors indicate about the same amount of phase current, the sum of the calculation should be near zero. If the U-V-W phase currents are not similar, this DTC will set.
What are the Possible Causes of the DTC P1E2B Saturn?
- Program Power Inverter Module
- Faulty Power Inverter Module
- Power Inverter Module harness is open or shorted
- Power Inverter Module circuit poor electrical connection

Frequently Asked Questions about P1E2B Saturn Code
What does the OBDII code P1E2B mean on a Saturn vehicle?
The code P1E2B indicates an issue with the Auxiliary Transmission Fluid Pump Phase U Current Sensor Circuit, specifically a high voltage condition.
What are the common symptoms of the P1E2B code?
Symptoms may include transmission overheating, reduced transmission performance, or warning lights related to the transmission system.
What causes the P1E2B code to appear?
Common causes include a faulty current sensor, damaged wiring or connectors in the circuit, or issues with the auxiliary transmission fluid pump.
Can I still drive my Saturn with the P1E2B code?
While the vehicle may still be drivable, operating it with this code can risk transmission damage due to improper fluid pressure or flow.
How do I diagnose the P1E2B code?
Diagnosis involves inspecting the wiring and connectors for damage, testing the current sensor, and verifying the operation of the auxiliary transmission fluid pump.
What tools are needed to troubleshoot the P1E2B code?
You will need an OBDII scanner, a multimeter to test electrical components, and possibly wiring diagrams for the auxiliary transmission fluid pump system.
How is the P1E2B code fixed?
Repairs may include replacing the faulty current sensor, fixing damaged wiring, or replacing the auxiliary transmission fluid pump if it's malfunctioning.
Can a software update resolve the P1E2B code?
In some cases, a software update for the transmission control module (TCM) may help, but hardware issues are more likely the cause.
How much does it cost to repair the P1E2B code?
Repair costs vary depending on the issue, but replacing a current sensor or repairing wiring typically costs less than replacing the auxiliary transmission fluid pump.
What happens if the P1E2B code is ignored?
Ignoring this code can lead to transmission overheating, reduced efficiency, or long-term damage requiring expensive repairs.
