I had the p1860 code only on my 1999 gmc yukon .... Was looking on the web and was very mis leading and poeple telling you it's the ignition switch ,pcm , bad wire ! We'll this what I did the when I got the p1860 code ! It is tcc pwm solenoid ... I dropped the transmission pan located the tcc pwm solenoid ... It's towards the back of the pan left side . I removed it ... Don't forget to remove the clip that keeps the solenoid in place and after it was removed I tested it and it should read 10 to 15 ohms... And mine only read 3 ohms so it was bad and don't forget to test leads that plug into the solenoid should read 10 to 12 volts ! So I replaced the solenoid with a new one and yes that fixed it ! No more error code..got the part from napa auto parts and don't forget the transmission filter , gasket and fluid and it all cost less than $100 dollars

Do you have any other codes besides the P1860? what is the engine size of your S10?
-
The solenoid and filter are the most common cause of the problem, but you already replaced that. According to a national database of repairs for your model year the most likely cause of the P1860 code, after the solenoid and transmission filter, is the "Ignition Switch". If the problem continues, then items on the list are the PCM and transmission assembly.

I have that p1860 code on a 2004 Silverado. first it didn't carry current to the solenoids and now it only reaches it for 30 seconds then it cuts off and doesn't change. I delete the codes and it works once then it doesn't change again. and I put the scanner on it and it tells me that solenoid 2-3 is not working or is open, I delete the code and again it changes once and so every time I put the scanner on it gives me a code Different from solenoid failure until it marks the p1860 that can be if someone has a solution or has the same problem.

On your vehicle, the ignition switch is by far the most common problem that will set the P1860.
-
On 4L80 & 60 transmissions the internal wiring harness can seep fluid through to the external connector on the side of the transmission. Causing shorts and open connections. Simple check - disconnect the plug and if there is fluid - you need to replace the harness. Which in 2025 dollars is about $50.
