The code in question as already has been mentioned is related to the EPC solenoid.
The harsh shifts is because this sol is probably stuck on and is not able to vary the pressure in the trans to make the gearchanges smooth.
It,s not a common sol to go and could be caused by debris which has got into the sol.
Debris being metal which could be another problem going on in the trans.
This sol can be changed in place in the car without trans removal.
You gain access by removing the side pan of the trans which is at the front of the car to get to the valve body.
The EPC sol is located near the top left handside and is held in with 2 x 10 ml bolts.
It,s the only sol with an earth wire and can,t be mistaken for any of the others.
A trans specialist should be able to do this job easily and it,s worth trying to change this sol before going any further.
Hope this helps a bit.
