P1718 HYUNDAI Description

The Steering Angle Sensor is a hole plate between the photo-controller LED and the phototransistor. As the hole plate rotates during steering wheel rotation, an electrical signal will be generated depending on whether the LED light passes through the plate to the phototransistor or not. This signal which is an angle velocity of the steering wheel is made use of sensing the rotating direction & neutrality of the steering wheel. In case the ABS (ESP) system is applied to the vehicle steering angle sensor signal is sent to 4WD-ECM(TCCU) by CAN communication.
