The power generation voltage variable control enables fuel consumption to be decreased by reducing the engine load which is caused by the power generation of the generator. The battery current sensor built into the Generator Control ECU assembly detects the amount of charge/discharge current. The Generator Control ECU assembly sends voltage generation instructions to the generator assembly based on this signal. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the battery current sensor output value is abnormally high for 30 seconds or more with the ignition switch ON.
