Code P1320 Infiniti Description

The ignition signal from the Engine Control Module (ECM) is sent to and amplified by the power transistor. The power transistor turns on and off the ignition coil primary circuit. This on-off operation induces the proper high voltage in the coil secondary circuit. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the ignition signal in the primary circuit is not sent to Engine Control Module during engine cranking or running.

Discuss the causes and fixes for P1320 Infiniti OBDII Code

  • P1320 code and P0301 for some time. Problem was intermittent at first and difficult to isolate. Sometimes trouble starting. Sometimes hard idle but RPMs don't vary. Sometimes feels like a lack of power with acceleration on interstate. Replaced coil #1 and all spark plugs. Fixed the starting issue but nothing else. Took it to dealership for diagnostics. They said coil #2 was bad. Now the miss seems almost constant, no power at interstate speeds. Replaced coil #2 and cleared codes. Still with miss and codes came right back. Disconnected each coil one at a time to see which one might be bad, but heard the engine slow with all six. Any other ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

  • What model and year is your Infiniti? When you replaced the coils, did you use factory inanition coils?
When The P1320 code is present, along with a P030X code, the solution to the problem is usually and ignition coil.

  • I have a P1320 and a P0430 combined. I just replaced and all 4 o2 sensors and all 6 Coils with in the last 2 years. Any suggestions?

  • What model an year is your Infiniti? did you use factory ignition coils? I have seen some aftermarket coils triggering the P1320 code, even if the coils are new. Also, the bad ignition coils could damage the catalytic converter. Fix the P1320 code and try to fix the P0430 code.

  • 2001 QX4. No I did not use dealer parts but they did say OEM. If I knew how to fix the P1320 1st I would. I'm stuck right now with this light on.

  • Other than the ignition coils, I haven't seen any other component triggering the P1320 code. The only way to be sure is by connecting an oscilloscope to the coils and check the voltage.
