P1192 DODGE DescriptionThe Inlet Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor is a 2-wire thermistor, as intake air temperature increases, thermistor resistance, and signal voltage decrease. Cold Engine, voltage is sent through a high resistance circuit in Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Warm Engine, voltage is sent through a low resistance circuit in PCM. PCM dual circuit improves IAT accuracy overall temp ranges. PCM monitors IAT voltage to help determine air density, due to temperature, for fuel calculations. The circuit is monitored when the engine is running. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will set when Inlet Air Temperature (IAT) sensor voltage is less than 0.5 volts.
