After finding egr valve to replace and hopefully repair P1165 code, I pulled the hoses off egr and found coolant in the lines. I blew compressed air in one of the and the radiator bubbled inside. Blown head gasket?
-
What model and year is your Nissan? are there any other symptoms besides the code?
-
You found coolant inside the EGR hoses? what hoses?
Sometimes there is some built up inside hose to the swirl control valve control vacuum check switch, but that's not coolant.
If there are no other symptoms, just clean the hoses and you should be OK
-
I found the antifreez in the 2 little hoses attached to the egr valve itself. I pulled one off, blew compressed air into it and the antifreeze inside the radiator bubbled.
-
So the more compressed air I kept blowing into one side, the more antifreeze came out of the other.
-
The 1999 Infiniti I30 uses an electronic EGR valve and the only hoses connected are coolant hoses to cool the valve. It's normal to have coolant.
The EGR valve has nothing to do with the P1165 code.
-
Oh ok. So the egr valve is fine then? Swirl control valve is my next mission then.
