Code P0C35 Cadillac Description

Hybrid/EV Battery Temperature Sensors are used to monitor the battery temperature. The non-serviceable battery temperature sensors are located within the battery sections. Two temperature sensors are located in each battery section. The temperature sensor is a variable resistor that measures the temperature of the battery cell group. The hybrid/EV interface control module supplies 5 V to the signal circuit and is a ground for the low reference circuit. The battery temperature sensor resistance changes with battery temperature. As the temperature decreases, the sensor resistance increases. As the temperature increases, the sensor resistance decreases.
Each Hybrid/EV Battery Interface Control Module communicates the temperature sensor values to the Hybrid/EV Powertrain Control Module via serial data.
The Hybrid/EV Powertrain Control Module uses the battery temperature sensors to determine the Hybrid/EV Battery Module temperature in order to control the battery cooling system operation.
The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the hybrid battery temperature sensor is greater than 160°C (320°F).

Frequently Asked Questions about P0C35 Cadillac Code

1. What does the OBDII code P0C35 mean on a Cadillac?

The code P0C35 indicates a "Hybrid/EV Battery Temperature Sensor 6 Circuit Low Voltage," meaning the voltage signal from the sixth temperature sensor in the hybrid/EV battery is lower than expected.

2. What are the common symptoms of code P0C35 in a Cadillac?

Symptoms may include the check engine light or hybrid warning light turning on, reduced hybrid system performance, decreased fuel efficiency, or the vehicle entering limp mode.

3. What causes the P0C35 code to appear in a Cadillac?

Common causes include a faulty battery temperature sensor, damaged or corroded wiring or connectors, a short circuit, or a malfunction in the hybrid battery control module.

4. Can I drive my Cadillac with a P0C35 code?

Driving with a P0C35 code is not recommended as it could lead to further damage to the hybrid battery system or reduced vehicle performance.

5. How is the P0C35 code diagnosed?

A technician typically uses a scan tool to confirm the code, inspects the battery temperature sensor and related wiring, and checks for continuity and proper voltage signals in the circuit.

6. How do I fix the P0C35 code on my Cadillac?

Repairs may include replacing the faulty temperature sensor, repairing or replacing damaged wiring or connectors, or reprogramming or replacing the hybrid battery control module.

7. How much does it cost to fix the P0C35 code on a Cadillac?

The repair cost varies depending on the issue, ranging from $100 for minor wiring repairs to $500 or more for sensor replacement or control module reprogramming.

8. Can a low hybrid/EV battery trigger the P0C35 code?

While a low hybrid battery itself may not directly trigger the code, issues with the battery's temperature sensors or circuits can result in this fault.

9. Does the P0C35 code mean my hybrid battery needs to be replaced?

Not necessarily; the issue is typically with the temperature sensor or its circuit rather than the entire hybrid battery.

10. Can clearing the P0C35 code solve the problem?

Clearing the code without addressing the underlying issue may temporarily turn off the warning, but the code will likely return if the problem persists.
