Code P0ACC 2016 GMC Sierra Description

Hybrid/EV Battery Temperature Sensors are used to monitor the battery temperature. The non-serviceable battery temperature sensors are located within the battery sections. Two temperature sensors are located in each battery section. The temperature sensor is a variable resistor that measures the temperature of the battery cell group. The hybrid/EV interface control module supplies 5 V to the signal circuit and is a ground for the low reference circuit. The battery temperature sensor resistance changes with battery temperature. As the temperature decreases, the sensor resistance increases. As the temperature increases, the sensor resistance decreases.
Each Hybrid/EV Battery Interface Control Module communicates the temperature sensor values to the Hybrid/EV Powertrain Control Module via serial data.
The Hybrid/EV Powertrain Control Module uses the battery temperature sensors to determine the Hybrid/EV Battery Module temperature in order to control the battery cooling system operation.
The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the hybrid battery temperature sensor is greater than 160°C (320°F).

Frequently Asked Questions about P0ACC 2016 GMC Sierra Code

What does the OBDII code P0ACC mean on a 2016 GMC Sierra?

The P0ACC code indicates that the Hybrid/EV Battery Temperature Sensor 3 Circuit is reporting a low voltage condition, suggesting an issue with the sensor, wiring, or related components.

What are the symptoms of the P0ACC code in a 2016 GMC Sierra?

Common symptoms include an illuminated check engine light, potential hybrid system warnings, reduced fuel efficiency, or limited hybrid system performance.

What causes the P0ACC code to appear?

The code can be caused by a faulty battery temperature sensor, damaged or corroded wiring, loose connections, or an issue with the hybrid battery control module.

Is it safe to drive a 2016 GMC Sierra with the P0ACC code?

While the vehicle may still be drivable, it’s not recommended to ignore the issue as it could lead to further damage to the hybrid system or reduced performance.

How is the P0ACC code diagnosed?

A mechanic will use an OBDII scanner to confirm the code, inspect the battery temperature sensor, check wiring and connections, and test the hybrid battery control module.

Can I fix the P0ACC code on my own?

If you're comfortable with basic repairs, you can inspect the wiring and connectors for damage or corrosion. However, sensor or module replacement may require professional expertise.

How much does it cost to repair the P0ACC code?

The repair cost can vary depending on the issue, ranging from $100 for minor wiring repairs to $500 or more for sensor or module replacement.

Do I need to replace the hybrid battery if I get the P0ACC code?

Not necessarily. The issue is often related to the temperature sensor or its circuit rather than the battery itself, but a professional diagnosis is recommended.

How can I prevent the P0ACC code from reoccurring?

Regular maintenance, including checking for damaged wiring and ensuring proper connections, can help prevent the code from reappearing.

What happens if I ignore the P0ACC code?

Ignoring the code may lead to reduced hybrid system efficiency, potential overheating of the battery, or further damage to related components over time.
