P0773 Toyota Code - Shift Solenoid 'E' Electrical Malfunction

What model? The shift solenoids are inside the transmission and attached to the transmission valve body.

I have a 98 Toyota Avalon I currently have my check engine light on.P0773 code. Took it to 2 transmission shops. One told me the shift solenoid is good, the other said I need to replace 3. I feel my car driving normal. What do you guys recommend?

I suggest starting by clearing the code and make sure the fluid is clean and the level is good. If the code comes back you may have to replace the solenoids.

I think you will find this code P0773 for the Toyota AVALON is in fact a Lock up (SL) Solenoid Circuit issue and not the Shift Solenoid 'E' Electrical Malfunction, may be wrong

"Trac off" and engine light came on after I hit the curb pulling out from mcd last friday. Took it to O'Relly and the lady read it without giving me codes and couldn't read it 2nd time. Took it to a mechanic shop and they couldn't connect to my car and was gonna charge me $150 to take apart something to diagnose further. I took it to another shop and he was able to connect to the car and provide me this code (Too bad he doesn't do trans work). The car drives fine tho, I don't feel any different driving it. Should I be concern and take it to a tranny shop? its a 97 avalon xls

Was he able to erase the code? if there is no light ON and the other symptoms, then there is nothing to be concern.

I have a sienna 2000 but only gear 1 n 2
change,after that, d noise of d engine will be 2 high,which means the gear is not changin. When it was diagonised, d faults are- P0758-shift solenoid B n P0773 shift soleniod E. P1765 -Linear solenoid for accumulator pressure control circuit malfunction

The code has nothing to do with the starting problem. Start with a tune up. Spark plugs and wires.

The code means that there is a problem with one of the "Shift Solenoid" inside the transmission. You have to remove the transmission pan and valve body to inspect and/or replace the solenoid.

My check engine light is on about 90% of the time. And has been for 2 years. My car seems to run fine. But now I need a smog and have to get this light to stay off! The code I got was p0773. I had a solenoid replaced and 2 days later the light came back on, took it back to the shop and they said it must be the torque converter. Which is much more money. Is this even possible with that code? And how can they know for sure?

Let me check the factory service manual for more information. What model and year is your vehicle?

I suggest taking your vehicle to another mechanic, they shouldn't had guess that the problem was the solenoids.

Looks like the torque converter should not cause the P0773, the problem is more than like and electrical problem between the Engine Control Module (ECM) and the solenoid.

can you use a cleaner/additive to fix the 773 code on 99 toyota solara?

It's an electrical problem, but there is a chance that the Transmission Control Module (TCM) could interpret a mechanical malfunction as a failing electrical part. It's probably worth try adding an additive.

I noticed PO773 on my Toyota camry 2000 model. And the car drives normally changing gear. After changing the shift Solenoid. The code still displays. What can cause this.

Unfortunately due to the age of your vehicle, you may have to to replace the valve body assembly.

1997 Camry V-6 PO773 e solenoid, read a forum that said to follow the negative cable to the transmission case where it is grounded, remove the bolt, sand area on transmission and bolt. Didn't work for me so I took apart both battery cable terminals and cleaned everything with 80 grit sandpaper (bolts, washers & nuts) even though they looked clean. I didn't believe it would work. WOW! IT WORKED... code disappeared finally. Saved me $200.00 for a shift solenoid I didn't need.
