Code P0748 Jeep Description

The Pressure Control (PC) Solenoid Valve an electronic pressure regulator that controls transmission line pressure based on current flow through its coil windings. As current flow is increased, the magnetic field produced by the coil moves the solenoid’s plunger further away from the exhaust port. Opening the exhaust port decreases the output fluid pressure regulated by the PC solenoid valve, which ultimately decreases line pressure. The line pressure solenoid valve regulates the oil pump discharge pressure to suit the driving condition in response to a signal sent from the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

  • Unfortunately there are many things that could cause the symptoms you describe. I checked and a national database of repairs for your model and year, and changing the transmission fluid and filter it's the most common solution for the problem. Based on the database, I recommend starting by checking the transmission fluid level and condition, and if possible change the fluid and filter.

  • hey hi
Have a 97 Jeep grand Cherokee 4.0 6 cyl. with code " PO0748 A-electrical", as per the dealer's code reader. Interpreted to mean there is a short in the circuitry and not a mechanical problem in the tranny. Traced the 3 wire cable from Governor Pressure Solenoid circuit sensor to the PCM harness. The middle wire tested continuity to ground. The other 2 wires are probably the B+ and the sensor output to the PCM. My alternator also dropped to 9-10 volts and both Field wires show grounding. Any ideas or similar problems.

  • The P0748 code not necessarily means that the problem is electrical and nor mechanical. According to a national database of repairs for your model year, the most common cause of the problem is either the "Governor Pressure Solenoid Valve" or the transmission fluid and filter.
